Wood County Sheriff’s Report
January 10
Cpl. Rapp, suspicious circumstance, CR 3880; male signed up victim for food stamps without permission, case forwarded to investigations.
Sgt. Williams, Cpl. Burdick, structure fire, CR 3440; landlord stated tenant was renting house but was not inside, believed fire may have started from faulty stove.
Deputy Comeaux, theft, Yantis; deputy located missing item down the road, returned to owner.
January 11
Cpl. Rapp, Deputy Skinner, assault, Holly Lake Ranch; victim and wife got into argument, she cut him multiple times with knife. Schelle Browning arrested for aggravated assault.
Cpl. Rapp, criminal mischief, Private Road 5551; female who was trespassed from property returned, damaged truck, offense report completed.
Cpl. Rapp, disturbance, CR 2175; caller and son got into argument, he stole her vehicle; Van Zandt County located stolen vehicle, returned it to owner.
January 12
Lt. Milbourn, Sgt. Morrison, Cpl. Croney, missing person; caller had not seen brother in two weeks, deputies contacted subject who last saw him, also had not seen him in two weeks, subject entered as missing.
Cpl. Smith, Cpl. Burdick, Deputy Rich, disturbance, Holiday Village; caller got into argument with stepdaughter, her boyfriend got in between them and pushed her, male stated he pushed both parties to separate them.
Sgt. Williams, grass fire, CR 2150, deputies also observed structure on fire.
January 13
Sgt. Morrison, Cpl. Croney, 911 hangup; parties advised they did not realize 911 call was made, deputies checked subjects, one male had active warrant. Kenneth Stanley arrested for outstanding warrant.
Sgt. Morrison, Cpl. Croney, Deputy Pollard, dispute, Hwy. 154; caller advised neighbor shot their dog on their property, neighbor later admitted shooting the animal, he was not being attacked, shot dog several times, offense report completed.
Sgt. Williams, Cpl. Smith, Deputy Rich, abandoned child, Hwy. 37; deputies observed baby by itself asleep while parents were asleep in another room. One of the parents woke up, advised they had been drinking, fell asleep. Deputies observed drug paraphernalia near child, CPS contacted, child removed, offense report completed.
January 14
Sgt. Williams, structure fire, FM 312; homeowner advised child woke them up, realized house was on fire, all parties got out of residence.
Deputy Pollard, dog bite; caller advised sons were playing with dog when it jumped up, bit one of them, subject provided vaccine records.
January 15
Sgt. Cox, Deputy Skinner, suicidal subject; male advised he was not suicidal, made suicidal statement because he was upset with grandmother, subject given courtesy transport to friend’s house.
Sgt. Cox, motorist assist, FM 514; vehicle stuck in driveway, trooper located driver walking down road, returned him to vehicle, female called, advised husband never returned to house, had dementia, caller was advised husband was located, friend was going to bring him home.
Deputies, structure fire, CR 1998; all parties able to get out of residence.
January 16
Cpl. Rapp, animal welfare check; caller stated her neighbor was gone, did not know if animal had food, water or shelter, deputies observed puppies had shelter but no food, no one came to door, neighbor advised homeowner leaves frequently.
Deputy Way, Deputy Haley, welfare check; located female who advised everything OK but wanted advice on getting out of relationship, deputies confirmed no offense occurred.
