Crazy East Texas weather! This week we saw the water temperatures range from 55 to 68 degrees. The bass spawn is in full swing. However, with the changing weather we saw the bass move in and out from the bedding areas due to the changing weather patterns. The bass were being caught on several different patterns such as spinner baits, chatter baits, Alabama rigs, Zoom Brush Hogs, Lake Fork trophy Lures Hyper Sticks and small crankbaits.

Ok, let's break it down for you: The best spinner bait and chatter bait color was white. The best Zoom Brush Hog color was watermelon/ red and we dyed the tails chartreuse. Watermelon/ red was the color of choice for the Hyper Sticks using the split shot rig. The KVD 1.5 was a good crankbait to use in 2 to 3 foot of water; a nice slow retrieve was used. We used the Ardent Apex tournament reels on Ardent Denny Brauer signature rods for all of our fishing, catching fish for 2 to 10 pounds. They proved to take everything we could throw at them from the pro-fishermen to the novice.

The white bass were still hanging out under the bridges in about 13 to 18 foot of water. A few were moving up the creeks but not many. Minnows were the bait of choice for this week.

Crappie fishermen -- are you having fun yet? The crappie also moved in and out this week depending on the weather. The straight minnow rig proved to be the best bet to catch good numbers of crappie. The better crappie were caught in 2 to 4 feet of water.

The catfish are still being caught in 2 to 10 foot of water on large minnows, and yes, they are still driving the crappie fishermen crazy.
