The Quitman Bulldogs opened their baseball season on the road and got 11 hits to pound out a 10-6 win over Como-Pickton last Monday.

Freshman Landon Richey took the win on the mound for Quitman, striking out eight Eagle batters in four innings of work. Junior Ty Holland came in for the final three innings to secure the Bulldog win. The two hurlers combined to hold Como-Pickton to three hits.

Quitman scored first on a stolen base by Cody Hawley, followed by a Holland single and a double by Riley Flanagan, taking an early 2-0 lead.

The Bulldogs pulled away for good with five runs in the second inning. Quitman scored on a stolen base  with Hayden Cook at bat. Cook singled, Holland got another single on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs, and Flanagan doubled on a 3-0 count, scoring one run. The Bulldogs got another run on a stolen base.

The Bulldogs had 11 hits. Caleb Hamby, Flanagan, Holland and Cook each had multiple hits. The Bulldogs used their speed to tear up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases and Flanagan led the way with three.
