The Quitman Police Department answered 280 calls for service between Feb. 1-18, issued 37 traffic citations, gave 32 traffic warnings, took 12 reports and made seven arrests.

The Quitman Police Department answered 280 calls for service between Feb. 1-18, issued 37 traffic citations, gave 32 traffic warnings, took 12 reports and made seven arrests.

February 5

Officer Joseph Gatewood initiated a traffic stop in the 400 block of S. Main St. Rickey Martinez was arrested for driving while intoxicated. 

February 6

Chief of Police John Farmer was dispatched to the 300 block of Conger St. for a disturbance. Cindy Hassing was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon-family violence.

February 7

Officer Brent Willoughby and Capt. Scott Gallimore initiated a traffic stop in the 300 block of S. Main St. One of the passengers, Joseph  Potts, had an outstanding warrant for assault on a public servant out of Smith County. Potts was arrested. 

February 9

Officer Gatewood was dispatched to the 600 block of Morris St. for a disturbance where a white male was yelling in the front yard. Christopher Campbell had outstanding warrants out of the Wood County Sheriff’s Office. Campbell was arrested for the warrants for tampering with physical evidence with intent to impair and resisting arrest, search or transport.

February 11

Officer Gatewood initiated a traffic stop in the 700 block of W. Bermuda St. Isabel Castillo was arrested for driving while intoxicated. 

February 16

Capt. Gallimore initiated a traffic stop in the 300 block of W. Bermuda St. Jesse Purkey was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
