The Quitman Police Dept. answered 360 calls for service from Nov. 18 to Dec. 10, issued 33 traffic citations, gave 89 traffic warnings, took 12 reports, issued one criminal trespass warning and made one arrest.

Nov. 29

Capt. Scott Gallimore responded to the UT Health Quitman Hospital E.R. A UPS driver had sustained a dog bite in the 200 block of Horton St. while delivering a package. Gallimore advised the owner that he would need to quarantine the dog at the vet’s office. The owner was cited for his dog running at large and had been previously cited within the past year. The UPS driver was treated and released. 

Nov. 30

Capt. Gallimore responded to a structure fire in the 800 block of N. Winnsboro St. A travel trailer next to the residence and was fully involved. The fire spread to the residence but was quickly extinguished by Quitman Fire Dept. with minimal damage to the structure. The RV was a total loss and the fire was determined by the fire marshal to be electrical. 

Dec. 2

Sgt. John Cooper received information while working at the Home Town Christmas on the square event of a white male who appeared to be impaired in the 100 block of E. Goode St. Cooper located Donald Moss who was arrested for public intoxication.
