The Quitman Police Department answered 371 calls for service between Aug. 11-Sept. 8, issued 109 traffic citations, gave 120 traffic warnings, took 43 reports, 13 warrant arrests and 18 on-site arrests. 

August 11

Officer Joseph Gatewood initiated a traffic stop at Goldsmith St. and the City Cemetery. Oscar Nevarez arrested for driving while license invalid without maintaining financial responsibility.

August 16

Officer Gatewood initiated a traffic stop in the 700 block of E. Goode St. Bryant Birmingham Jr. arrested for driving while license invalid without maintaining financial responsibility and operating a motor vehicle without financial responsibility.

August 22

Officer Gatewood initiated a traffic stop on E. Goode St. Justin Graham arrested for operation of a motor vehicle in violation of requirement to establish and maintain financial responsibility.

August 23

Officer Gatewood initiated a traffic stop in 300 block of S. Main St. The driver advised she did not have a valid drivers license. The passenger and owner of the vehicle, Jasmond McGill, was arrested for three Quitman warrants for failure to appear, failure to maintain financial responsibility and no drivers license.

Officer Gatewood was on a traffic stop on S. Main St. and was taking a subject to jail with outstanding city warrants and permitted someone to come pick up the vehicle and another passenger, who did not have a valid drivers license. Corby Berry arrived to take possession of the vehicle and was found to be driving while license invalid with a previous conviction and arrested. Berry had two outstanding Quitman warrants for failure to appear and expired drivers license.

August 24

Officer Jesus Sandoval was dispatched to a disturbance in the 500 block of Lance Rd. Garrett Thorsen was yelling and screaming profanities at neighbors. When officers approached Thorsen he jumped in his vehicle and sped off despite officers verbal commands then turned around and did donuts in his yard. Officers arrested Thorsen for disorderly conduct and evading arrest or detention.

Sgt. John Cooper and Capt. Clint Perkins responded to an inquest in the 400 block of Conger St. a 95-year-old female passed away in her home. 

August 27

Officer Gatewood initiated a traffic stop in the 300 block of S. Main St. Erick Sorrosa arrested for driving while license invalid with a previous conviction for failure to maintain financial responsibility. Sorrosa also had four outstanding city warrants, two for no drivers license (when unlicensed), one for failure to appear and one for expired registration.

Officer Gatewood initiated a traffic stop in the 200 block of E. Goode St. Jackson Gilreath arrested for driving while license invalid with previous conviction.

August 31

Officer Joe Andrade was dispatched to the Bud Moody Football Stadium for an assault family violence. Andrade interviewed the victim and took the suspect, Clinton Scott Yale, into custody. 

Officer Gatewood initiated a traffic stop on S. Goldsmith St. by the City Cemetery. Melinda Wilson was arrested for failure to maintain financial responsibility with a previous conviction.

September 3

Lt. Scott Gallimore responded to an inquest in 500 block of Lance Road a 95-year-old male passed away in his home. 

September 4

Officer Gatewood initiated a traffic stop on E. Goode St. Jeffery McWaters arrested for driving while license invalid without maintaining financial responsibility.

Officer Gatewood  initiated a traffic stop on S. Main St. Benjamin Edwards arrested for operation of a motor vehicle in violation of requirement to establish and maintain financial responsibility, possession of a dangerous drugs and possession of controlled substance penalty group 3 <28gms.

September 5

Officer Gatewood initiated a traffic stop in the 300 block of S. Main St. Jimmy Petrea arrested for driving while license invalid with a previous conviction and fictitious registration.

Officer Gatewood initiated a traffic stop in the 100 block of E. Goode St. Katheyne Starr arrested for driving while license invalid without maintaining financial responsibility and failure to maintain financial responsibility with previous conviction. 

September 7

Lt. Gallimore took Darrell McKiddy into custody for two warrants for criminal mischief over a $100 but under $750. Gallimore investigated several reports of vandalism, including a city vehicle and interviewed McKiddy.
