One of those nights

Some nights it’s even difficult to properly warm-up between innings. It was just one of those nights. Winnsboro defeated the visiting Mineola Yellowjackets, 16-6, in five innings last Tuesday. When Dalton Hamlin offered his first pitch in the bottom of the third (he was the third Mineola pitcher at that point) his first pitch was hammered down the left-field line for a 2-run double. And when a pop-fly fell between three Yellowjackets in shallow right field in the bottom of the fourth it was officially “one of those nights.” Fortunately, the game of baseball and those who play it are resilient. All eyes will be on the end of season home and away series against Quitman this week. It should determine the final playoff spot. Above, a relay throw to the plate flies over the head of Mineola catcher Matthew Ballew as a Winnsboro run scores.
