Monster fall concert set by symphony

The Lake Country Symphonic Band will present its fall concert, “A Monster of a Concert” on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 22 at 2 p.m. at the Historic Select Theater, 114 N. Johnson St. in Mineola, under the direction of Kelly Bennette. 

Selections include “Symphony No. 9 from the New World” composed by Antonin Dvorak and arranged by James Curnow, “Victory at Sea” composed by Richard Rodgers and arranged by John Moss, a world premiere of “Centurion” composed by Kelly Bennette and directed by Mike Holbrook, “Best of the Beatles” composed by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, arranged by John Moss, “Dances in the Canebrakes, Nimble Feet” composed by Florence Price, “A Turkish Tale” by Dennis Eveland – also a world premiere, “The National Game” composed by John Philip Sousa and directed by Mike Holbrook, “The Battle of Jericho” by Charles Spinney, and “Tijuana Brass in Concert” arranged by Ted Ricketts.

“Frankenstein” is the third world premiere of the day and is composed by Kelly Bennette. “Frankenstein” is a tone poem based on the novel “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelley. The storyline will be presented in the program.
