MISD school board recognizes student accomplishments
Mineola school trustees recognized monthly student awards as well as staff and faculty and other honors at last week’s board meeting.
The primary campus students of the month were second graders Hadley Large and Kaysen Haire.
Fourth graders Bentley Bates and Allison Pescador were the elementary students of the month.
Representing the middle school were seventh graders Adalyn Hudson and Camden Quiambao.
Freshmen Raylie Peebles and Ainsley Steward were high school students of the month.
Abraham Burciaga was named the primary campus’s teacher of the year.
Transportation Director Bill Self introduced bus driver Albert Gutierrez as the support staff member of the month.
Fine arts director Jim Best recognized the six all-state band students who represented the largest contingent at the all-state band clinics and concerts other than two much larger 4A schools.
He also noted that the band members returned from the recent solo and ensemble try outs with 76 first division medals, including 43 that qualified for the state competition.
