MISD makes mask wearing optional
Face coverings became optional for Mineola schools Monday, and an event Monday morning showed how school personnel felt about that. No masks in sight.
Superintendent Cody Mize announced last week that the previously set March 29 date for a decision concerning masks would mark the first day that masks would be optional for teachers and students.
Also the district will no longer require temperature checks at the start and middle of the school day.
All COVID testing and positivity rates will continue to be monitored closely to conclude the 2020-21 school year, Mize said.
He said that the district will continue to monitor the situation before allowing parents to come have lunch with their children.
“Staff, students, parents and community members, we can’t stay ‘Thank You’ enough for your willingness to be cooperative and work with us throughout the school year. Let’s finish strong!” Mize said.
