Mineola opens playoffs against Jefferson

Mineola opens the state football playoffs against Jefferson at Spring Hill.

Mineola has the opening drive and goes in for the score to lead 7-0.

Jefferson needs just two plays to respond, and it's 7-7. Less than four minutes gone.

The next Mineola drive goes 74 yards with the final 50 on a Dawson Pendergrass run and Mineola leads 14-7.

4:14 to go in the 1st quarter.

Mineola gets the stop on 4th down at its own 20-yard line.

End of the first quarter.

Mineola fumbles it away at the 15.

Jefferson scores but the kick snap is bad and it's Mineola up 14-13.

Mineola burns up the rest of the half, driving to the Jefferson 20 and Noah Turner boots the 37-yard field goal for a 17-13 halftime lead.

Jefferson gets the second half kickoff and Mineola forces a punt after five plays.

Mineola chews up time and yards to get to the Jefferson 16.

Just 2:41 to go in the 3rd quarter with a 4th and 7.

Jackets turn it over at the 12.

Jefferson fumbles the handoff on the first play and Mineola has it back.

Two runs of five yards and Pendergrass is in the end zone.

Mineola leads 24-13. Under two minutes left in the quarter.

End of the third quarter and Jefferson has a 4th and 18 at the Mineola 38.

The 4th down pass is incomplete. Mineola ball.

Another grinding drive for Mineola capped by a 13-yard Braydon Alley run for the TD. Jackets lead 31-13.

The clock reads 6:59 to play.

Jefferson turns it over on downs again just inside Mineola territory.

5:08 left to play.

Mineola converts a 4th and 11 with just over two minutes to go.

Jackets run out the clock to take the bidistrict championship, 31-13.
