Mineola Memorial Library Notes
Greetings to you all. I bet you were wondering where this column has been. Well, apparently, I let my mind go on Spring Break for most of this month.
The library has remained open Tuesday to Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. each day. We are still closed on Sundays and Mondays.
This year we will be closed Easter weekend. We will not be open March 29 and 30. The book and movie drops will be available on the porch.
March 29, City National Bank at 200 N. Pacific will host a bake sale benefitting the library. Baked goods will be available from noon to 6 p.m. The Easter Bunny will be hopping by from 2 to 6 p.m. for pictures (there are fees for the pictures not related to the bake sale). Have family coming in for the holiday weekend and need some baked goods? Please, stop by, pick up a sweet, and support the library.
We will be giving away eclipse glasses April 2-6 in the alley behind the library. There will be a limit of one pair per car. Hours to pick up glasses will be between 2 and 4 Tuesday to Friday and between 1 and 3 on Saturday. We have a limited supply that we received from a StarNet grant.
The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) hosted a Fairy House Build on March 14. The YACs seemed to have a great time presenting the program, and the participating families took home a fairy house full of memories.
Toddler Story Time continues on Tuesdays at 9 a.m. for children 18 months to 3 years with their parent/caregiver. This group hears a story, completes a related activity and has fun playing and socializing together.
Preschool Story Time is on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. for the 3ish to 5 year olds with their parent/caregivers. They listen to several stories then complete an activity related to the story.
We follow several book clubs: Reese Witherspoon, Read with Jenna, GMA, Mocha Girls Read, East Texas Library Friends, East Texas Perfictionists, and a decades reading challenge. We have a display near the water cooler if you would like to see what others are reading and maybe find something new to try.
Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit and your donations may be tax-deductible. We have received a donation from the Boswell family.
