The First Tuesday Book It Craft is at 2 p.m. the first Tuesday of the month on Oct. 4, and the craft will be a pumpkin made from a re-purposed book. This is a fun, cute craft that can be used for Halloween or Thanksgiving décor.

And don’t forget our First Tuesday After School Club on Oct. 4 at 4 p.m. for K to 12th grade.

In September, we celebrate our freedom to read during Banned Book Week which was Sept. 18 to 24. This is a time to remember that what one person enjoys may not be enjoyable for another person and what is acceptable in one household may not be acceptable in another household.

We are accepting book donations but not magazines, textbooks or encyclopedias. If it’s been in your storage area for a while, check and see if you would still bring these items into your home; if not, please do not bring them to us. Nobody likes to throw away a book but sometimes it is necessary. If you have more than two boxes, please, call first so we can be ready to receive your donation. Books donated to the library may be used on the shelves, outreach, programs or the book sale if they meet our guidelines on condition.

The American Girls Historical Reading Club will meet on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 10 a.m. to learn what school might have been like in 1774 for Felicity. Registration is a must and may be completed by calling the library  at 903-569-2767. The September meeting filled up so be sure you get registered soon.

The Friends of the Mineola Memorial Library will meet on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 1:30 p.m. to plan for their next event and book sale. Membership is open to the public. Stop by and find out what the Friends are planning.

The library received memorial donations for Lou Wagner from Lou Steele and the Byfords.

The Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit and your donations may be tax-deductible.
