Mineola boys head to break with three wins
Mineola varsity boys completed non-district basketball play with wins over Sabine, 58-52 on Dec. 15, and Cumberland, 62-50 on Dec. 19, before opening district play Monday against Winnsboro.
The Yellowjackets jumped to a 20-6 lead in the first quarter and kept the Red Raiders at bay for the 66-53 win.
Mineola extended the lead to 30-6 before Winnsboro rallied to make it 34-23 at halftime.
The Yellowjackets kept the lead in double digits, going up by as many as 19 points on several occasions.
District play continues Saturday, Jan. 2 at Mt. Vernon.
