Mineola board gets detailed look at system

Mineola School Board members dug into the details of the state accountability system during a board training session last week.

They also approved a resolution that will allow the district to seek reimbursement for the cost of two level three shields for the district’s police officers from the state’s shield grant program.

The training was led by Dennis Glenn, retired superintendent from Harmony, who works for the Region Seven Education Service Center.

His presentation was titled “Evaluating and Improving Student Outcomes.”

He explained that student outcomes will change when adult behavior changes.

He noted that the state tests upon which district grades are based are intended to measure how well the district is teaching the required curriculum, not an evaluation of the worth of the individual child.
