Mineola basketball teams advance
The Mineola Lady Jackets will face Winnsboro at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28 at Prosper High School to open the girls Class 3A regional basketball tournament.
Mineola earned a spot in the regional with a 49-35 win over Bells Tuesday in Greenville.
Winnsboro advanced with a 66-35 win over Daingerfield.
The winner will take on Howe or Chapel Hill, who play at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The final is Saturday at 1 p.m. with a trip to the state tournament on the line.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students.
In the boys playoffs, Mineola, which defeated Gateway Charter Academy 80-65 Monday, will take on Ponder in the area round Friday at 8 p.m. at Princeton High School. Ponder defeated Leonard 62-42.
The winner of that one will face Madison or Gunter in the regional quarterfinals next week.
Also last night the Alba-Golden boys lost to Dallas Madison 105-63 in bidistrict.
