It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Kathe Michelle Pickel, a beloved daughter, sister and friend. Kathe peacefully left us on Sept. 2, 2023 in Tyler at age 52.

Born on Sept. 21, 1970, Kathe was a cherished member of her community, as well as a family member of longtime Wood County residents. Her vibrant spirit and warm heart touched the lives of all those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Kathe had a passion for bringing joy to others, evident through her involvement in community events like Trunk or Treat, where she could always be found creating magical experiences for children and families.

An animal lover at heart, Kathe found great joy in raising and caring for Shih Tzus as a breeder. Her love for dogs in general was evident in the exceptional care and love she provided to each and every one of them.

Kathy’s journey through life was not without its challenges, but she faced them with immense courage and determination. As a member of Alcoholics Anonymous, Kathe celebrated six years of sobriety, an achievement that embodied her strength and resilience. Through her journey, she inspired others and became a beacon of hope for those seeking to overcome their own struggles.

Survived by her mother, Sandra Jackson; father, Charles Pickel; and brother, Marcus Pickel and wife Carrie, Kathe will be remembered as a loving daughter and sister. Kathe is also survived by nieces, Aubren Pickel and Taylor Holland; and nephew, Reece Pickel. She will forever hold a special place in the hearts of her family members, who will miss her greatly.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jim and Lois Willingham, and her step-father, Robert Jackson.

A memorial service will be held in remembrance of Kathe Michelle Pickel at the First United Methodist Church in Quitman Saturday, Sept. 30 at 11 a.m.

In honor of Kathe’s spirit of kindness and generosity, the family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Quitman Christmas Sharing Plus and APET.

Kathe Michelle Pickel will be dearly missed but never forgotten. May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory serve as a source of inspiration and comfort for all who knew and loved her.
