GOP boaters rally at Lake Fork
A Trump 2020 Flotilla Boat Parade jointly sponsored by the Wood County and Rains County Republican parties was held on Lake Fork Saturday afternoon, Sept. 26.
Ideal weather greeted the event and encouraged large crowds to attend in boats and on dry land. Estimates are that upwards of 300 boats participated.
Watercraft, festooned with flags and decorations and ranging from kayaks to pontoon party boats, began gathering shortly after noon and were still arriving when festivities commenced at 4:30. Several hundred attendees congregated near the Highway 154 public boat launch on blankets and lawn chairs and many, many more watched from the Highway 154 bridge.
Loud speakers set up near the boat launch broadcast patriotic music and several short speeches across the water.
Janna Castloo, Wood County Republican Party chair, welcomed all the boaters and gave a shout out to first responders which received a hearty cheer. After an invocation and pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags, Texas House District 5 Representative Cole Hefner delivered a short, patriotic message. Following Representative Hefner was a message from Kristi Ratliff, chair of Rains County Republicans. The ceremonies ended to the stirring strains of Lee Greenwood delivering the National Anthem.
