The Wood County District Attorney’s Office has partnered with UT Health East Texas to host the Fourth Annual First Responders Co-Ed Softball Tournament, Saturday, Oct. 21 in Quitman.

The tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Quitman High School Softball Field. UT Health East Texas will have a booth at the high school softball field offering information on their facilities and services.

Admission free and the public is invited to attend. Not only will the softball skills of first responders be on display, but kids will be entertained with bounce houses, a cotton candy stand, games, face painting and more, as well as delicious snacks and meals from area food trucks.

All proceeds will benefit the They Got Your 6 Foundation. Its mission is to serve men and women in uniform and their families. Their focus is on military (active and veteran status), law enforcement, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and family members. Some of the services offered are professional counseling free of charge to service members and their family, suicide intervention and prevention training programs, and community service programs.

“This is our fourth year hosting this tournament and it is exciting to see our first responders coming out to have a good time playing ball,” District Attorney Angela Albers said. “I am grateful for the work that They Got Your 6 does in our community. Any time we can spread the message of the necessity of breaking the cycle of abuse, we will all win,” said Albers.
