Charles Wayne Turner, a proud Texan born in Hainesville, embarked on a life journey from a “country boy” donning overalls to a life full of adventure and purpose. His enduring love story with his beloved wife, Beverly Jayne Turner, spanned six decades, filled with cherished memories.

Together, they explored multiple states, from Hawaii to California, Wyoming to Arizona, leaving a trail of joy and laughter. Their love story blessed them with a beautiful family of four children, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In his early years, his life took a turn when his family’s fortunes changed, leading to a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M Commerce, followed by honorable military service in Hawaii. He later managed Kmart stores, touching countless lives across the nation.

Amid the hustle of life, Charles never lost his country charm. He sang whimsical songs about squirrels and frogs, spreading joy to everyone he met.

After a lifetime of hard work, Charles retired to an East Texas peach orchard, surrounded by beloved animals. His legacy extended to over 12 years of volunteering at UT North Hospital’s Riter Center, where his kindness brightened patients’ lives.

Charles cherished his church at Holly Tree in Holly Lake Ranch, as well as his family church of Mount Pisgah. He wished for his loved ones to gather and celebrate his life, adorning themselves in bright colors to reflect his vibrant spirit.

And we mustn’t forget that Charles was the biggest and most loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys, a passion that ran deep in his veins. As we remember him, let’s hold close his kindness, strength and boundless love that he would spread. Charles’s wish for all to “Have a beautiful day and reach for the big blue marble” will continue to resonate.

Viewing was at 10 a.m., with the funeral scheduled for Sept. 27 at 11 a.m. at Holly Tree Church in Holly Lake. Following the funeral, a burial ceremony at Mount Pisgah will be followed by a gathering for food.
