Blue Santa gearing up for annual campaign
The annual Blue Santa program gets underway soon in Wood County.
The program pairs police/first responders with children from throughout the county for an evening of Christmas shopping.
To raise funds for the much-anticipated event at the local Walmart, participants hold several fundraisers, starting this year with a Jeep show on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 10 a.m. at the Meredith Memorial Stadium parking lot in Mineola.
Jeep owners and others may compete for several prizes for a $20 donation.
The second event is Tuesday, Nov. 29 at the Mineola Whataburger, which will donate 50% of sales from 5-7 p.m. Blue Santa will also be on hand for donations.
Donations again will be accepted at the local Brookshire’s stores on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 5 p.m.
The shopping event is planned Tuesday, Dec. 13.
