TxDOT awards contract for overpass at US 69, FM 779
The Texas Dept. of Transportation has awarded a bid for the construction of an overpass on U.S. Hwy. 69 at FM 779 near Golden.
Bids on the long-awaited project were opened on March 5.
Five companies submitted bids, and the low bidder was the Lamar Companies of Paris for $37,954,683.
The project had been estimated at $46.8 million. The high bid was $48.5 million.
It is expected to take 492 working days to complete, just under two years. It is set to begin in late spring.
The project extends about one mile on either side of FM 779 and includes entrances and exits for north and southbound US 69 to access FM 779.
Additional right-of-way for the project was purchased on the southwest side of US 69 several years ago to accommodate the overpass.
