Stitchin’ Heaven breaks ground on accommodations

Posted

Nationally acclaimed and Texas premier quilting destination, Stitchin’ Heaven, hosted a groundbreaking for its new retreat center and cottages just east of the current venue in the Quitman Business Park.

Local dignitaries, employees, media and interested customers were on hand. The retreat center and cottages are part of a building expansion project includes a 9,500 square foot retreat center and 10 cottages.

The retreat center will have 12 hotel-style bedrooms, each with a dedicated bathroom, and can sleep 24 people. The 10 cottages will each sleep four guests and include a bathroom and small kitchenette. It includes a water feature.

“This is Phase II of our building plans,” said owner Deb Luttrell. “We have a vision here for Quitman and this is just us continuing on going forward. We will have more lodging options for Quitman, and Stitchin’ Heaven is going to bring more people in to spend time here and more importantly, to spend money here. We love it here and are thankful you came out today to spend this moment with us.”

She said construction is expected to start soon and finish in early 2021.

“It’s a vision we have,” she said. “We started in Quitman 24 years ago and have moved back to the area. The quilting world is amazing, and it is supporting us here and bringing people to Quitman.”
