Quitman Pilot Club chili cookoff Friday

The annual Quitman Pilot Club’s Chili Cook-Off fundraiser will be Friday, Jan. 26 from 6-8 p.m. at the Carroll Green Civic Center in Quitman. There’s always some very tasty chili, coupled with a lot of competitive fun. Contestants vie for costume and booth décor trophies, as well as chili trophies.

The entry fee for cooks is $25 along with a $25 gift card or $50 without a gift card. Gift cards will be used to build high-dollar raffle buckets that will be raffled the night of the event. Dale “The C” Cummings will entertain the crowd with his energetic musical talents. There will also be a lively dessert auction, as well as baked goods for purchase.

Tickets to attend and eat your fill of chili are only $10 for adults and $5 for those 12 and under. They will be available in advance from any Quitman Pilot and also on the night of the event at the door. Patrons can also email through the club’s website to arrange for tickets.

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
