New officers installed for DAR chapter
After an interesting program on the history of the Caddo Native Americans in Wood County presented by Jim Phillips of the Wood County Historical Commission, two chapter officers were officially installed in the Elizabeth Denton English Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.
Jenniffer Hudson Connors and Barbara Gillies were officially installed by Honorary Past Regent Lucille Gilbreath.
Connors, installed as regent, is a resident of Quitman and actively involved in several civic and community organizations in Winnsboro and Emory. Gillies, installed as chaplain, is an honorary past regent and a long-time DAR member. The installation ceremony postponed due to scheduling conflicts concluded with the members pledging to support the officers in their respective offices and to also follow the mission statement of the National Society to promote historical preservation, education, and patriotism.
