Mineola golf course reopens – golf only
It was hardly business as usual for the Mineola Golf Club, but some members of the Senior Golf Association gathered last Thursday morning for their weekly scramble.
It marked the first rounds of golf since a devastating fire leveled the clubhouse, pro shop and bar in the early morning hours of Aug. 21.
A recreational vehicle is parked near the cart barn to serve as a temporary office to check in golfers and check out carts.
With the cart barn several yards away from the main building, that part of the club’s business was unaffected by the blaze.
Next up will be a more permanent “temporary” structure to serve as a club house.
Utility crews have been busy restoring services to the club.
And the benefit veterans golf tournament will go on as planned on Saturday, Sept. 9.
The Friday night scrambles will resume this week. Last week’s was canceled in favor of a fellowship and prayer meeting.
