David Dewitt Dean Jr.  1954-2023

David Dewitt Dean Jr. was born June 12, 1954 in Portland, Ore. to David Dewitt Dean and Gladys Rogers Dean.

In 1979, David married Gina Landers. Even after their marriage ended, they continued to  co-parent their daughter, Sarah, and son, Paul.  After a few years of relationship, David and LaDonna Goff married in 2008.

David is survived by his spouse, LaDonna; daughter, Sarah Larrew and her husband Lance; son, Paul Dean; sisters, Deanna Carsten and her husband Henry and Gretchen Roddy and her husband Jerry; grandchildren, Savannah, Andrew, Katelyn, Madison and Hunter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Gladys Dean, and sister, Suzanne Dean.

David enjoyed working as a security officer for the UT Health Care East Texas campus in Tyler, then the Quitman campus. He was able to use some of his best traits: helpful and protective. He always said, “Call if you need anything.”

A memorial service for David will be held Jan. 13, 2024 at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Retreat Cemetery in Tyler.
