Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 4 for city council elections in Mineola, Hawkins and Winnsboro and one seat on the Mineola school board.

Voting for the two Mineola elections will be held jointly at Mineola City Hall, 300 Greenville.

The Hawkins city election will be held at the school administration building, 450 Hawk Dr.

The Winnsboro election will be held at the city civic center, 915 Wheeler Dr.

Mineola voters will choose one school board member and one city council member.

Candidates for the unexpired two-year term on the Mineola ISD board are Tony Forsyth and Lina Ortega.

Unopposed for two full three-year terms are Jeffrey White and incumbent Jay McGough.

Candidates for the Ward Three seat on the Mineola City Council are Crystal Arcand and incumbent Cassandra Sampson.

Two new council members will be seated to represent the other two wards, former council member Polly Jones in Ward One and Jimmy Alexander in Ward Two. Sue Jones and Eric Carrington did not seek reelection.

The city of Hawkins has one contested city council seat.

Deb Rushing is unopposed for mayor and has already been appointed to that position, which was vacated by Susan Hubbard.

Meredith Hancock is unopposed for Place One, to replace Chuck Richoz. Place Three incumbent Eric Maloy is challenged by Norma Oglesby.

Winnsboro voters have four candidates for two city council seats: CJ Thatcher, Jim Hollowell, Stephen Boorman and Richard “Randy” Parrish.

The remaining cities and school districts in Wood County canceled their elections after none of the seats were contested, and the candidates were declared the winners.
