Alba council seeks grant for generators
Alba City Council met in its newly-renovated council chambers Monday.
The council approved authorization to seek administrative services for a Hazard Mitigation Assistance Program grant to provide emergency generators.
The city previously was not awarded funds in the first round of grant applications. The second round application eliminates the city’s request for money to replace the storm siren.
The council discussed other ways to pay for the siren, including other grants and assistance from the city’s economic development corporation.
The city is requesting proposals for administrative services and qualifications for an engineering firm for the generators.
The council canceled the May 4 election as no positions are contested. Incumbents Robert Kraemer, Tammy Kirkpatrick and Tim Westervelt will be sworn in for two-year terms in May.
The council chamber updates include new paint and carpet and a relocated door on the south wall that no longer offers direct access into the police department offices.
The council reviewed a number of items to be considered for budget amendments.
