The 2026 Wood County Junior Livestock Show (WCJLS) will take place Monday, March 30 through Friday, April 3, at the Quitman ISD Agricultural Pavilion. This year’s show will feature 300 exhibitors competing in 791 entries across all competitions.

The WCJLS provides youth with hands-on opportunities to develop leadership, responsibility and technical skills through a wide variety of events. Exhibitors will participate in livestock shows, agricultural mechanics, baked goods, photography, floral design and educational contests. Months of preparation go into each exhibit.

Schedule highlights:

Tuesday, March 31: Baked Goods & Photography Contests, Breeding Show

Wednesday, April 1: Broiler Show, Lamb & Goat Show and Hog Show

Thursday, April 2: Agricultural Mechanics Show, Rabbit Show, Dairy Heifer Show, Commercial Heifer Show and Steer Show

Friday, April 3: Floral Cup contest, Livestock Judging contest, Public Speaking and the Sale of Champions to conclude the event.

“The Wood County Junior Livestock Show reflects the commitment of our youth and the strong support system provided by families, volunteers, and the community,” said Lindsey Yeager, county extension agent – family and community health. “With 300 exhibitors and nearly 800 entries, this year’s show demonstrates the continued growth and impact of youth agriculture programs in Wood County.”

Community members are welcome to attend and support the exhibitors throughout the week. The event is free for the public. For additional information or a complete schedule, contact the Wood County Extension Office at 903-763-2924.
