Yellowjackets bidistrict winners, Alba-Golden falls

Mineola and New Boston faced off in a deciding third game Saturday afternoon in Paris, with the Yellowjackets taking the bidistrict playoff series with a 9-7 victory.

Jack Heard threw 6 2/3 innings for Mineola while his team backed him with 15 hits and a three-run sixth inning to take the lead for good.

New Boston broke on top 5-1 in the first inning but Mineola fought back to tie it after three, 6-6.

Mineola will take on New Diana in the area round, which swept Troup 11-1 and 8-1.

In its best of three series with Linden-Kildare, the Alba-Golden Panthers fell 7-4 Saturday to end their season.
