Work begins for Hwy. 37 widening project
Construction is starting this week on widening State Hwy. 37 north of Mineola.
The $4.1 million project will add a center turn lane from just north of Walmart to Rose Hill Road.
It is the second phase of safety improvements that residents of Tuscany Park have been lobbying for for several years.
The first was a reduction of the speed limit by the subdivision entrance from 60 MPH to 55.
Baker and Company Construction LLC of Tyler is doing the work, which is expected to be completed in August.
The project will start with crews removing trees from the right of way and installing erosion control measures.
