July 1
Deputy Swann and Deputy Hammond responded to a criminal trespass on County Road 2245. Upon arrival, deputies located two subjects on the property without permission. Luke Derr and Jessica Conner were arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Deputy Hammond took a request to speak by phone. The caller advised that someone had made multiple false harassment reports against her. Information from previous cases was obtained, and a report will be completed.
Deputies responded to a report of shots fired on County Road 4570. Dispatch received a 911 call reporting that a father was physically assaulting his daughter and the mother fired one round in an attempt to stop the assault. The caller advised the male subject took the firearm and fled into nearby woods. Deputies located and detained the subject. Donald Mates was arrested for assault family violence.
Deputy Hammond took a fraud report by phone. The caller advised that while attempting to purchase gas, a woman told him the card readers were not working. He handed her his credit card, and she went inside the store. The following day, the caller discovered multiple fraudulent charges. An offense report was completed.
July 2
Deputy Swann took a theft report by phone. The caller advised that while his ex-girlfriend was moving out, she took multiple items belonging to him. A list of the missing property was provided, and an offense report was completed.
Deputy Swann and Deputy Hammond responded to a disturbance on Private Road 5834. The victim advised he arrived at the residence to repossess a vehicle when the homeowners pointed a firearm at him. Christal Grant was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Sgt. Rich, Deputy Vanatta and Deputy Nichols responded to a missing juvenile report. After speaking with the parents, the juvenile was entered as missing. Several hours later, the juvenile returned home.
July 3
Deputy Way responded to a theft in Yantis. An employee reported that someone stole copper water line from a parking lot. An offense report was completed.
Deputy George responded to a theft on Hwy. 154. The victim advised someone broke into his storage unit and stole multiple items. A list of the missing property was provided, and an offense report was completed.
Deputies responded to a fatal vehicle crash on FM 49.
July 4
CID investigators and deputies responded to a possible drowning at Lake Hawkins. Upon arrival, they learned a man had gone underwater and failed to resurface. The victim was later recovered by a dive team.
Deputies responded to a four-wheeler crash. The caller advised a woman was riding a four-wheeler when it overturned and pinned her beneath it. She was flown to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Deputy Williams and Deputy Haney responded to a disturbance on Hwy. 69. After further investigation, Heather Andrew was arrested for assault family violence.
Deputy Williams and Deputy Tucker responded to a disturbance on FM 288. Deputies determined an intoxicated male assaulted two women before fleeing the scene. An offense report was completed.
July 5
Sgt. Cox and Deputy Way assisted Quitman Police during a vehicle pursuit. The pursuit ended in Winnsboro, where the driver was arrested for DWI and evading arrest.
Deputy Way took a request to speak by phone. The caller advised that while visiting family members, her grandfather struck her husband while he was holding their child. The victim declined to pursue charges.
Deputy Smith responded to a report of a found child in Alba. Alba Police located a child walking in the roadway and returned the child to the police department. Deputies contacted the child’s parents, who advised the child had gotten outside unnoticed. Child Protective Services was notified.
Deputy Williams and Deputy Tucker responded to a 911 hang-up on FM 312. Deputies determined they had responded to the address eight times that day, with the caller refusing treatment each time. Records showed the subject had placed 20 calls to 911 over an 11-day period. Kristen Rushing was arrested for making silent or abusive 911 calls.
July 6
Deputy Hammond responded to an assault at the Quitman emergency room. The victim advised she became involved in a verbal argument with her husband and was struck when he shut a door. The victim declined to pursue charges.
Deputies responded to a report of an armed subject in Hawkins. The caller advised four people were involved in an argument and one person was armed. After speaking with everyone involved, deputies determined no offense had occurred.
Deputy Swann responded to a theft on County Road 2501. The caller advised multiple items had been stolen from the residence. Serial numbers were provided, and the items were entered into the stolen property database.
Sgt. Rich responded to a disturbance in Yantis. After further investigation, Derek Yazbeck was arrested for assault family violence, assault and terroristic threat against a peace officer.
July 7
Deputy Swann and Deputy Netherland responded to criminal mischief on County Road 3250. The caller advised someone threw fireworks into his mailbox, causing damage. A report was completed.
Sgt. Williams and Deputy Whisenhunt responded to a criminal trespass on County Road 2810. The caller advised a man was on his property without permission. A warrant will be sought.
