Wood County Sheriff's Report
AUG. 12 Deputies responded to a suicidal subject on County Road 1226. The caller advised the male subject had multiple lacerations and was pouring gasoline on himself and other property. The subject was detained and transported by EMS to receive treatment. Cpt Milbourn, Lt Morrison and Deputy Hammond performed a warrant service. Kaiden Steger was arrested on an active warrant.
AUG. 13 Deputy Hammond conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 154. The passenger exited the vehicle and the driver fled the scene in the vehicle. A pursuit was initiated, and the driver later exited the vehicle and fled into the woods. Frankie Clanton was arrested on an active warrant and for evading.
AUG. 14 Deputy Way responded to a welfare concern on Private Road 7978. The caller advised he wanted his neighbor trespassed from the property. A criminal trespass warning was issued. Deputy Swann responded to an abandoned vehicle near FM 2869. The caller advised a female was located submerged in the water. The vehicle was removed and attempts were made to contact the owner. Deputies responded to a suicidal subject on Hwy 80. The caller advised his friend sent a self-harm message and he was concerned. Deputies located a subject with multiple gunshot wounds. The subject was transported by medical helicopter to receive treatment.
AUG. 15 arrest. Sgt Williams responded to a theft on County Road 2290. The victim advised her friend came over and offered assistance with her medication. Later in the day, the victim discovered multiple pills were missing. An offense report was completed. Deputy Whisenhunt took a theft report by phone. The caller advised she had power of attorney over her brother, but two subjects were able to get him to move and took possession of his belongings. The caller provided the location of the items and the truck was entered as stolen.
AUG. 16 Deputy Way responded to a death investigation. The caller advised he located his wife deceased in bed. The appropriate agencies were contacted. Deputy Way took a theft report by phone. The caller advised she donated money to a GoFundMe and later received notification that the goal was not met and the money would be refunded. The caller confirmed her money was not returned and an offense report was completed. Deputies assisted Mineola PD with a warrant service. Mineola PD requested assistance, but all subjects fled the scene before deputies arrived. Two of the three subjects were later located and arrested. The third subject will receive additional warrants.
AUG. 17 Cpt Milbourn and Lt Morrison conducted a traffic stop on County Road 2120. After further investigation, it was determined the vehicle was stolen. The vehicle was towed. Sgt Rich responded to a missing person. The family advised they had not seen the subject in several hours. A regional BOLO was issued, and Hopkins County advised the subject had been transported to the hospital following a previous call. The family was notified.
Sgt Rich and Deputy Nichols responded to a shots fired call on County Road 1562. The caller advised he drove by a neighbor and someone shot at him. Contact was made with multiple neighbors who advised fireworks had been set off and the subject was driving recklessly down the road. The original caller's motorcycle was towed for reckless driving in Quitman.
Aug. 18
AC Chilson and Deputy Hammond responded to a disturbance on County Road 3145. The victim advised her juvenile daughter assaulted her multiple times. The juvenile was arrested for assault.
