June 17
Deputy Hammond conducted a traffic stop on County Road 4430. A probable cause search was conducted, and Angela Attaway was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and child endangerment.
Cpt. Milbourn and Lt. Morrison responded to a physical disturbance on County Road 1560. After further investigation, Gabriel Gomes was arrested for assault family violence.
Sgt. Rich, Deputy Vanatta and Deputy Nichols responded to a suicidal subject. Dispatch received a 911 call from a subject making suicidal statements. The caller did not provide a location, but dispatch located a previous address associated with the phone number. The subject was located and transported by EMS for treatment.
June 18
Deputy Gloar responded to a welfare concern on Hwy. 154. Contact was made with a subject who made self-harm statements and was later transported to the emergency room for treatment.
Deputy Vanatta and Deputy Nichols performed a warrant service on County Road 3900. Jeremy Robinson was arrested on an active warrant.
Deputy Vanatta conducted a traffic stop on Hwy. 80. Standardized field sobriety tests were performed on the driver, and James Brandon was arrested for DWI.
June 19
Sgt. Espinoza and Deputy Smith were dispatched to a stolen vehicle in Hawkins. Deputies were informed of the location of a stolen vehicle and observed it at an address. The suspect fled on foot before deputies arrived. The vehicle was recovered along with multiple other stolen property items.
Deputy Knox took a request to speak by phone. The caller advised a vehicle drove onto the property and struck her son’s basketball goal. A report will be completed when the caller is available.
Deputy Williams and Deputy Knox responded to a disturbance in Hawkins. The caller advised she had been assaulted during an altercation with her fiancé. There were no visible signs of injury, and the victim did not wish to pursue charges.
June 20
Deputies and DPS responded to a hit-and-run in Quitman. The caller advised a vehicle drove into the yard, struck two vehicles and fled the scene. DPS located the vehicle, but the driver fled on foot. The subject was arrested by DPS for DWI and evading arrest.
June 21
Deputy Whisenhunt and Deputy Smith responded to a missing juvenile in Alba. While deputies were searching the area, the juvenile returned to the residence.
Deputy Smith responded to a dog bite at the Quitman emergency room. Hospital staff advised a 10-year-old attempted to grab the dog’s bone and was bitten in the face. Vaccination records will be provided.
Deputy Knox responded to a dog bite at the Quitman emergency room. An animal bite report was completed.
June 22
Deputy Hammond and Deputy Whisenhunt were dispatched to a disturbance on County Road 2121. The caller stated he went to his mother-in-law’s residence to speak with her, but another male answered the door and began arguing with him. During the argument, the male allegedly displayed a firearm. Upon deputies’ arrival, the male denied having a firearm. Deputies located the firearm nearby, and Alton Zachary was arrested for deadly conduct, tampering with evidence and possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility.
Sgt. Rich and Deputy Nichols responded to a suspicious vehicle on County Road 3220. The caller stated a vehicle was in the area and that their daughter had previously snuck out of the residence and entered a similar vehicle. Another family member scared the vehicle away before deputies arrived.
Deputy Vanatta responded to an overdose. The victim advised he had taken a large number of pills due to problems at home. The subject was transported for treatment.
June 23
Deputy Nichols responded to a dog bite on FM 2869. The caller advised their daughter was bitten on the hand by the family dog. Vaccination records will be provided.
Deputy Nichols took a request to speak by phone. The caller advised that while at a boat ramp near his residence, several males approached him. An argument became physical, but the caller did not wish to pursue charges.
