Wood County Sheriff's Report
May 20
Deputies performed a warrant service on FM 14. Susan Applegate, was arrested on an active warrant.
Deputy Whisenhunt responded to a fire on FM 515. Coke FD advised they have responded to multiple fires at this address within the last year. A report was completed and forwarded to the Fire Marshal.
May 21
Sgt Williams, Deputy Hammond, and Deputy Swann responded to a burglary on County Road 1987. The victim advised multiple items were missing from the property. An offense report was completed.
Sgt Williams and Deputy Swann responded to a theft on Hwy 37. The caller stated a shed was stolen from the property. Deputies discovered the suspect had a warrant and Steven Fails, was arrested on an active warrant and theft of property.
Deputies responded to a verbal disturbance on FM 852. The caller stated her and her sister were scared their father was going to physically harm them. Contact was made with the father who became uncooperative and was detained. No offense occurred.
May 22
Deputy Smith, Deputy George, and Deputy Holland responded to a physical disturbance in Hawkins. After further investigation, it was determined the suspect, Richard Smith, initiated physical contact with the victim and a physical disturbance ensued. Richard Smith, was arrested for assault family violence.
Deputy Williams, Deputy Tustin, and Deputy Knox were dispatched to a possible drowning on Private Road 5980. The caller stated a male subject was working on electrical wiring when he was shocked and fell into the water. The subject was deceased prior to deputies arrival.
Deputy George and Deputy Holland conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 37. Michael Bowker, was arrested for DWLI.
Deputy Williams, Deputy Haney, and Deputy Tustin performed a warrant service in Winnsboro. Reginald Christian, was arrested on an active warrant.
Deputy Williams, Deputy Haney, and Deputy Tustin responded to a physical disturbance in Hawkins. Upon deputies arrival, they located the involved male subject walking around the baseball fields. Contact was made with the female who stated nothing physical occurred. Justin Boone, was arrested for public intoxication.
May 23
Deputy Way was dispatched to an abandoned vehicle on County Road 4530. The vehicle was observed to be parked partially in the roadway and it was towed.
Deputy Way responded to a theft on Hwy 37. The victim advised his vintage lathe was missing from the property. A possible suspect who scrapped the lathe was identified. An offense report was completed.
Deputies performed a warrant service on FM 49. Michael Robbins, was arrested on an active warrant.
May 24
Sgt Cox, Deputy Smith, and Deputy Way responded to a disturbance in Holiday Village. The caller stated her and her husband got into an argument and he became upset and threw a mallet which also caused damage to the property. Donald Riffle, was arrested for assault family violence.
Deputy Smith and CID responded to a found property call on County Road 2140. The caller advised she located a gun safe in the lake and it contained multiple items. The safe was retrieved from the water.
Sgt Rich checked out with an abandoned vehicle on FM 14. The vehicle was towed to be removed from the roadway.
May 25
Sgt Williams was dispatched to a theft on County Road 4497. The caller stated she was dating someone and when she discovered he had a criminal history, she asked him to leave. After the victim asked the subject to leave multiple times, he stole her vehicle. The vehicle was entered as stolen.
Deputy George, Deputy Holland, and Deputy Whisenhunt made contact with a subject at Lake Holbrook beach. The subject was issued a criminal trespass warning for the beach previously and he was observed on the beach. Jason Jones, was arrested for criminal trespass and possession of stolen property.
Sgt Rich and Deputy Vanatta responded to an unwanted subject on County Road 4830. Jonathan Nolen, was arrested on an active warrant for possession of a controlled substance and he was given an additional charge of possession of a controlled substance after a bag containing a crystal-like substance was located on his person.
Deputy Gloar, Deputy George, and Deputy Holland responded to a physical disturbance on FM 515. The caller advised she observed two subjects fighting in the parking lot. After speaking with all parties, Matthew Holified, was arrested for assault family violence.
May 26
Sgt Williams took a theft report on Hwy 11. The store employee advised two females left the store with merchandise without paying. Sgt Williams is awaiting security camera footage and an offense report will be completed.
Deputy Swann took an assault report by phone. The caller advised her husbands mistress entered their residence without her permission and assaulted her. An offense report was completed.
