Feb. 4

Deputy Knox, criminal trespass, CR 2174. Property owner wanted subject trespassed from property, has had issues with him recently, trespass warning issued. 

Mental health incident, CR 4770. Subject transported by EMS to receive treatment. 

Sgt. Skinner, Deputy Williams, Deputy Nichols, stolen vehicle, Hwy. 37. Deputies unable to determine owner, case will be forwarded to investigations. 

Feb. 5

Criminal Investigations Department, Lt. Milbourn, Sgt. Cox, Deputy Swann, suspicious circumstance, CR 4560. Female came to caller’s residence appearing intoxicated, said was in wreck, injured. Deputies located subject, discovered had been in wreck week before, but had walked to ex-boyfriend’s house, assaulted him prior to deputies’ arrival. Kim Sartin arrested for assault. 

Sgt. Cox, suspicious person, Hwy. 154. Juvenile walked up to caller, said had been walking from Sulphur Springs; while deputies on scene, subject called, said grandson had run away again. EMS responded, cleared juvenile, transported back to residence. 

Deputy Tustin, theft, Hawkins. Victim said had package stolen from front porch. Case will be forwarded to investigations. 

Feb. 6

Deputy Smith, Deputy Holland, theft. Subject said delivered hay to customer, customer’s checks bounced. Offense report completed. 

Deputy Smith, request to speak by phone. Caller had questions regarding protection order; Deputy Smith learned caller’s husband had assaulted her. Offense report, protection order completed. 

Sgt. Rich, Deputy Beck, shots fired, CR 2378. Subject said had to defend himself. Deputies located male subject deceased. Criminal Investigations Department, Texas Rangers notified. 

Sgt. Rich, Deputy Vanatta, disturbance, PR 5534. Subject said brother assaulted family members in residence. Hunter Wasilew arrested for two charges of assault family violence, interference with 911 call, three charges of terroristic threat. 

Feb. 7

Deputy Hammond, request to speak by phone. Caller said son being abused by grandmother who lives in Marshall. Caller advised to make report with appropriate agency, CPS contacted. 

Sgt. Williams, Deputy Hammond, structure fire, CR 2168. Subject said heard explosion, noticed neighbor’s camper on fire. No one inside, fire marshal notified.

Abandoned vehicle, CR 4539. Subject said located abandoned vehicle on right of way of his property. Vehicle returned to subject entered as missing. Deputies searched area, located missing subject deceased in woods. 

Feb. 8

Deputy Whisenhunt, dog bite, Hawkins. Subject said son bit by neighbor’s dog while outside. Deputy Whisenhunt went to dog owner’s location, no one answered door, follow-up will be completed. 

Deputy Beck, Deputy Vanatta, gunshot victim, near Upshur County line. Victim transported by EMS to receive treatment. After speaking with all parties through translator, deputies determined shooting accidental, as bullet ricocheted, struck victim.  

Feb. 9

Deputy Knox, theft of service. Victim said was lawyer, client fled state before paying him. Offense report completed. 

Lt. Morrison, Sgt. Skinner, Deputy Nichols, warrant service, CR 4328. Joshua McLemore arrested on active warrant. 

Deputy Haney, Deputy Tustin, Deputy Nichols, warrant service, CR 4400. Richard Shirley arrested on active warrant. 

Feb. 10

Deputy Haley, theft report, Hawkins. Victim said someone stole gas can off front porch. Security footage provided, offense report completed. 

Deputy Knox, subject walking in road, FM 17. Deputies located female subject, intoxicated, Amber Hughes arrested for public intoxication. 

Deputy Haley, theft. Subject said someone stole copper off work truck. Truck has cameras, footage requested.
