May 19

Deputy Andrew Morrison took a report of burglary from the owner of a residence on CR 3854. The man reportedly told the home’s current tenants they could have the contents of the home with the exception of three items. Two of those three pieces (a wooden kitchen safe and a bedside table) were now missing from the residence. The value of the missing items is $1,000. Morrison recorded information regarding possible suspects and forwarded the case to criminal investigations.

May 20

Deputy McKenzie Chandler was dispatched to a residence on PR 7864 after a small female child had been found walking down the street with no adults present. Chandler was able to locate the child’s residence three-fourths of a mile away. Contact was made at the residence with a 14-year-old sister of the child who had no idea the girl was missing. The child’s mother was called to come to the scene and take possession of the girl. A report had been made with CPS.

Sgt. David Brown conducted a welfare check on a victim of domestic violence at a residence on CR 4870. Thomas Glenn Caviness, 52, of Winnsboro was found to be at the residence in violation of bond conditions. He was arrested and transported to jail. 

Deputy Bradley Cox took a report of sexual assault on CR 2427. To protect the victim’s identity, no other details are being released.

May 21

Deputy Jonah Croney was dispatched to Alba-Golden school property on CR 2377 in reference to a reckless driver. A witness described a student riding a dirt bike crashing through a fence. The student was ultimately identified; however, the school declined to pursue charges. 

Deputy Crone was dispatched to CR 2339 for a theft report. An 18’ car hauler, valued at $5,000, was stolen sometime in the past two weeks. The trailer’s license plate number has been entered as stolen. 

Deputy Croney was dispatched to the area of CR 3522 and CR 3520 in response to a report of a possible puppy mill. Croney identified a large number of kennels at three addresses in the area and noted the presence of food and water. He was unable to make contact with anyone at the residences. Due to the number of dogs on the property and the conditions in which they were living, this case is being referred for further investigation.

Deputy Jon Ritterbach was dispatched to CR 4494 for an assault in which the suspect had already left the scene. The male victim was bleeding from the mouth area and had a substance (later identified as biscuit dough) on his face. The man reported he had been struck by a female relative while her hand was covered in biscuit dough. The woman also struck him with a soda can. EMS was summoned to the scene but the man refused transport. The man requested a magistrate’s order of protection and did wish to pursue charges. 

Just after midnight, Sgt. Austin Milbourn initiated a traffic stop after witnessing a vehicle fail to maintain a single lane. The car’s driver admitted to drinking a “couple” of beers and smoking marijuana earlier in the evening. Field sobriety tests were administered prior to Corey M. Levingston, 32, of Winnsboro being arrested for driving while intoxicated. He was issued a verbal warning for the initial violation. A small amount of marijuana was located inside the vehicle and was confiscated.

May 22

Deputy David Tipps was dispatched to CR 2232 in reference to a missing 15-year-old male. The boy’s mother reported he left the residence via his bedroom window sometime after 10 p.m. He was later located in Rains County and was returned to his mother.

Sgt. Jeremy Smith was dispatched to SH 37 in the Mineola area for a report of a disturbance. A man and woman were in an altercation when the woman struck the man’s face with her open hand. The man did not wish to pursue charges. A family violence packet was completed.

Deputy Dustin Green and Sgt. Milbourn were dispatched to a residence on Farrington St. in Alba for an assault after a juvenile called to report that her parents were physically fighting. Both parents were also reportedly intoxicated. Three juvenile females at the residence witnessed the assault in which the woman grabbed the man by the throat. Tess Miranda Davis, 36, of Alba was arrested for assault, causes bodily injury, family violence. 

May 23

Deputy Croney and Sgt. Smith responded to CR 3800 in response to a report of a suicidal subject. The 21-year-old male made comments which led deputies to believe he was at risk of self harm. After being medically cleared by EMS, the man was transported to UT Health Quitman for a mental evaluation. 

Deputy Ritterbach took a report of a missing person from a Quitman couple who stated their 48-year-old family friend was missing. They also reported the woman had mental issues and was possibly en route to Alabama where she had family. It was later learned Louisiana State Police had dealt with the woman and she had been taken to a medical facility for a psychological evaluation. 

Deputy Croney and Sgt. Smith responded to a welfare concern after a woman called to say her husband was on foot in the area of US Hwy. 69 and FM 779. According to the woman, the man had third degree burns and had been recently released from the hospital. He had exited the vehicle they were traveling in following a verbal altercation. The man was eventually located sitting in a ditch on FM 1799. He was checked out by EMS before being transported to his wife’s location near Quitman. 

Deputy Cole Hudson was dispatched to an RV park near Alba to check the welfare of a dog. Hudson, along with the owner of the RV park, peered through a window of the RV and observed a pit bull type dog in a kennel with no food or water visible. Entry was made through the unlocked door and a second dog was located locked in a bathroom. Both animals were fed and watered. Neither appeared malnourished. The property manager advised it had been a week since one of the tenants was at the RV. 

May 24

Deputy Hudson took a report of theft of service in which a construction company had been paid over $75,000 for a home remodel which had not been completed. Hudson took photographs at the residence on FM 515 in the Yantis area. This case has been forwarded to investigations.

May 25

Deputy Linda Williams took a fraud report from a resident of Holly Lake Ranch who stated someone had opened a Discover account in her name. The woman learned that the account had been opened in 2000 and closed in 2011. She only learned of the account after receiving a letter from the IRS stating they had received Form 1099C, Cancellation of Debt, in the amount of $12,542, from Discover. A report was completed for documentation purposes. 

Deputy Corbin Hanner was dispatched to CR 4530 for an assault report. A woman stated she had been in a physical altercation with her adult daughter who had since fled the residence. Despite having evidence of mild injuries and damage to the property, the complainant refused to cooperate and was unwilling to pursue charges. 

May 26

Deputy Ritterbach took a report of criminal trespass from a resident of Holiday Villages. The complainant stated an unknown female had entered his residence wielding a can of wasp spray and advised that she was going to shoot his dogs if he didn’t do something about them and keep them in his own yard. The woman left the residence in a short amount of time. Ritterbach recorded the woman’s description and has forwarded the case to investigators.

Deputy Croney took a report of a disturbance that occurred at Holiday Villages. A caller reported his neighbors were having a physical altercation. Upon arrival, Croney located a father and his adult son who admitted to arguing over work-related issues. Neither party wished to pursue charges.
