Members of the Elizabeth Denton English Chapter, DAR gathered at the Mineola Historical Museum after their monthly meeting for a tour and to take advantage of the America250 sign for a commemorative picture. Sharon Chamblee, chairman of the Historical Museum, led the tour and provided interesting comments on the museum exhibits.
Members were proud to see the chapter’s Patriot Tree on display which was created to honor the members’ Revolutionary War patriots.
The tree was added to the Museum’s America250 decorations several months ago when the museum, and the chapter partnered to celebrate the historic anniversary.
Racheal Roberts, regent of the chapter, said, “Today was a wonderful day of fellowship and history for the Elizabeth Denton English Chapter, NSDAR. Thank you for this opportunity to view this wonderful exhibit.”
The DAR will read the entire Declaration of Independence on July 4 at the civic center prior to the band program and fireworks.
