UM Army plans extensive work in Wood County

The UM Army will be in Wood County June 5-9 to take on variety of projects assisting residents.

The United Methodist Action Reach-out Mission will bring 80 workers from 6th grade to college age and adults from churches including China Springs, Coppell, Keller and the host church, First United Methodist Church of Quitman.

Projects include wheelchair ramps, hand rails, porch work, painting, yard work, minor home repairs and more throughout the county.

Nationwide the army will be in 48 cities helping 1,000 families in need. It has been undertaking projects for 40 years.

Members pay their own way, prepare their own meals, bring their own tools and purchase needed materials.

They end each work day with a worship time.

Referral for the work included state agencies, local organizations, churches and community members.
