TxDOT announces Wood County roadwork for week of Oct. 26
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has announced construction and maintenance work scheduled in Wood County for the week of Oct. 26, including pavement repairs, bridge construction and roadway improvements.
Maintenance crews are scheduled to perform an asphalt overlay on FM 515 between FM 1483 and FM 69. Motorists should expect lane closures with flaggers directing traffic. Crews will also conduct edge repairs at various locations throughout the county.
Work continues on the $37.9 million U.S. Highway 69 grade-separated interchange project near FM 779. Crews are scheduled to continue construction on the new bridge, including hot-mix asphalt operations. Traffic will be detoured under the bridge during construction.
Traffic has been shifted onto temporary pavement south of the existing U.S. 69 roadway.
The project extends from approximately 0.96 miles north of FM 779 to 1.03 miles south of FM 779. Improvements include grading, base and asphalt work, drainage, a new overpass, curb and gutter, signage and pavement markings.
Lamar Companies LLC is the contractor, and completion is anticipated in November 2026.
On State Highway 37, crews are scheduled to apply permanent pavement markings as part of the $4.1 million two-way left-turn lane project between County Roads 2460 and 2320.
The project includes widening the roadway and installing a continuous two-way left-turn lane. The speed limit remains reduced to 45 mph throughout the construction zone.
Baker & Company Construction LLC is the contractor, with completion expected in March 2027.
TxDOT reminds motorists to slow down and remain alert when traveling through work zones. Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather, equipment failures or other unforeseen circumstances.
