TxDOT announces Wood County project updates

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) plans to conduct construction and maintenance work in Wood County and throughout the Tyler District during the week of Sept. 7, 2026.
Work schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment failure or other unforeseen issues. Motorists are urged to slow down, stay alert and pay attention when traveling through work zones.
TxDOT offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of Labor Day.

WOOD COUNTY
This week, crews are scheduled to overlay FM 515 from SH 154 to FM 2966. Motorists should expect lane closures, with flaggers controlling traffic through the work zone.

US 69/FM 2493 Overpass
This week: Crews are scheduled to continue working on new bridge elements. Traffic will detour under the bridge. Traffic has shifted onto temporary pavement south of existing US 69.
About the project: The project includes grading, base and asphalt work, drainage improvements, construction of a new overpass, curb and gutter, and new signs and striping.
• Limits: From 0.96 miles north of FM 779 to 1.03 miles south of FM 779
• Contractor: Lamar Companies, LLC
• Cost: $37.9 million
• Anticipated completion: November 2026

SH 37 Two-Way Left-Turn Lane
This week: Crews are scheduled to continue widening operations and embankment work. The speed limit is reduced to 45 mph throughout the project limits.
About the project: The project consists of widening the roadway and installing a continuous two-way left-turn lane.
• Limits: From CR 2460 to CR 2320
• Contractor: Baker & Company Construction, LLC
• Cost: $4.1 million
• Anticipated completion: March 2027
TxDOT reminds motorists to use caution in all work zones, obey posted speed limits and traffic-control devices, and watch for workers and equipment.
