Tour de Pines helps bring carnival back to Old Settlers Reunion
The first Tour de Pines drew 211 registered cyclists, raising funds that will go directly toward bringing the carnival back to the Wood County Old Settlers Reunion this fall.
The inaugural bike fundraiser, held Saturday, Aug. 15, drew cyclists, volunteers and sponsors to support the Wood County Old Settlers Reunion.
Board Treasurer and Tour de Pines organizer Joanne Wisdom said the turnout exceeded expectations, and the board is already planning to make the ride an annual event.
“I am so excited about the turn-out for our inaugural Tour de Pines bike fundraiser for Old Settlers. We had such a great day, enjoying the company of so many wonderful people. The cycling community is so kind and gracious. This will definitely be an annual event, and I am already looking forward to next year,” Wisdom said.
Tour de Pines was organized as a fundraiser for the Wood County Old Settlers Reunion Association. Proceeds from this year’s ride will go toward the $20,000 commitment required to bring the carnival back.
The carnival will be held Saturday, Oct. 31, and Sunday, Nov. 1. Wristbands are expected to cost between $25 and $30, with the final price to be announced later.
More information about this year’s Old Settlers Reunion and carnival will be posted at oldsettlersreunion.org.
