Three extension offices hosting pesticide conference

Wood, Rains and Van Zandt County extension offices will host the Tri-County Pesticide Conference Friday, Oct. 1 at the Carroll Green Civic Center in Quitman.

Cost is $30, and registration deadline is Sept. 24 by calling one of the extension offices: Wood - 903-763-2924, Rains - 903-473-4580 or Van Zandt - 903-567-4149.

Registration is at 8:30 a.m. followed by programs on pasture weed identification and integrated pest management control, laws and regulations update and pesticide record keeping.

After lunch provided by Red Dome Smokehouse, programs on pesticides modes of action and aquatic weed identification and control will conclude, with wrap up at 3 p.m.

Those needing continuing education hours for pesticide applicator license can receive five CEUs.

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
