Rose Hill Baptist Church celebrates 92nd Homecoming

Rose Hill Baptist Church welcomed members, former members, family, and friends home on Sunday, July 19, as the church celebrated its 92nd Homecoming with a day filled with worship, memories and fellowship.
The morning began with worship led by the Whosoever Praise Band. The group included Rebecca Brown (vocals), Russ Collins (lead guitar and vocals), Jeremy Heim (drums), Jimmy Winkle (keyboard and vocals), David Cross (electric guitar), Caleb Smith (bass guitar), and Dwyane Smith (vocals), who filled in for Anita Tucker.
Following the music, Shirley Munoz shared the history of Rose Hill Baptist Church and recognized descendants of the church’s charter members who attended the special service.
One of the morning’s highlights came as Sammy and Shannon Fowler honored C.W. and Judy Sandifer for 40 years of service to Rose Hill Baptist Church. Although C.W. is now with the Lord, his legacy of service continues to bless the church. A wind chime was placed in the church’s memorial garden in his memory, and white Drift roses were planted as a lasting tribute. Judy was presented with a Bible cover in appreciation for her years of faithful service. Members of the Sandifer and Hammond families were present to share in the special recognition.
Music has always been an important part of Rose Hill’s homecomings, and this year’s celebration was no exception. Rebecca Brown performed a special song, followed by Will Bowden, Gracie Hass, Eduardo Molina and Haddie Webster representing the church’s R.O.S.E. Kids ministry. Smiles filled the sanctuary as former children’s and youth choir members Joey Shelton, Brenda Davidson, Dianne Little, Shannon Fowler, Cathy Banks, Shirley Munoz, Mike Estoll, Gladys Dimsdle, Joyce Voyles, Linda Miller, Mitzi Lloyd, Linda Dodson, Terry Shelton and Robert Wilson gathered to sing together once again, bringing back treasured memories for many. The Whosoever Praise Band then closed the music with the gospel song, “Beulah Land.”
Bro. Kenny Ray of Grand Saline brought the morning message, “Homecoming and Spiritual Markers,” from Joshua 3:9-4:9. He reminded the congregation that, just as the Israelites built memorial stones to remember God’s faithfulness, Christians today should establish spiritual markers that remind future generations of God’s provision, guidance, and blessings.
Following the invitation, the congregation gathered around the tables for a potluck meal, where old friendships were renewed, stories were shared, and new memories were made.
For 92 years, Rose Hill Baptist Church has been a place where faith, family and community come together. This year’s Homecoming was a reminder that while much has changed through the years, God’s faithfulness remains the same.
