Residents not happy with lack of road maintenance
Though Wood County commissioners had only one item to approve Tuesday, they did hear a presentation from Holiday Villages of Fork resident Peggy Mize about the residents’ failed attempts to have their county road maintained.
Mize said her fellow residents would be attending the next meeting Dec. 23 to seek solutions to their problem.
According to Mize, the five residents in Section J live outside the gated and fenced area of the private subdivision, and its board has refused to maintain their road because they are outside the community.
She said that their $60 monthly dues “might as well (be burned) in the middle of the road,” as they have access to none of the amenities.
She said their requests have resulted in conflicting answers from the board.
“They keep kicking the ball down the road,” she said.
Their property deeds say the subdivision is responsible for road maintenance, Mize said.
She said if the county will grant permission to replat the lots, commissioners might be able to begin maintaining to road to their properties along County Road 1226.
