Quitman, Mineola bands compete
The Quitman and Mineola High School bands represented Wood County with pride at the Pleasant Grove Marching Invitational Saturday, Sept. 27.
Both bands delivered strong performances in the preliminary round, earning high marks across multiple categories.
In prelims, the Quitman Proud Blue Band received a Division I rating in marching, a Division I in percussion, and a Division 2 in color guard. The Mineola Sound of the Swarm swept their preliminary scores, earning straight Division I ratings in marching, percussion and color guard.
Both bands advanced to the finals round, competing among the top performers of the day.
Final placements were announced as follows: 1st Place: Redwater High School, 2nd Place: Mineola High School, 3rd Place: Texas High School, 4th Place: Queen City High School, 5th Place: Quitman High School, 6th Place: Arkansas High School, 7th Place: Hooks High School, 8th Place: Prairiland High School
Outstanding Percussion: Redwater High School
Outstanding Color Guard: Mineola High School.
