Quitman man sentenced to six months in jail for misdemeanor assault
Brett Michael Vaughan, 45, of Quitman pleaded true to probation violations for the misdemeanor offense of Assault Causes Bodily Injury Family Violence on Wednesday, Feb. 4. As a result of his plea, he was sentenced to 180 days confinement in the Wood County Jail. Vaughan was also ordered to pay costs of court.
On Jan. 5, 2022, Nicole Vaughan, Brett’s wife, reported to law enforcement that she was taking a shower when she and Brett began to argue about his drinking. Nicole told Deputy Matthew Cooper that Brett “pushed her in the face and grabbed her by the hair and threw her down into the shower.” Brett was required to complete several anger management-type courses and community service hours, but did not. He also continued to drink alcohol, which violated his probation. He was sentenced to six months confinement in the Wood County Jail.
