Quitman Library Connections
The Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale week begins on Tuesday, April 29 and will run through Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. (4 p.m. on Friday). This sale is sponsored by the Friends of the Quitman Public Library, and all proceeds benefit library programs, materials needed and book purchases.
Friends meet on 2nd Thursdays at noon. The next one-hour meeting will be May 8, and this will be the last meeting of the 2025 season. The public is invited to join this active group of volunteers dedicated to the growth and improvement of the library.
Story Time with Spencer happens every 2nd and 4th Friday at 1 p.m. in the children’s section. The next event will be Friday, May 9. Story time is designed for toddlers through six years, and parents need to stay with their children as these story time episodes are recorded.
The Wood County TX Genealogical Society invites family researchers and historians to meet on the 3rd Monday at 5:30 p.m. in the library community room. The next meeting is May 19. Follow the society at http://www.facebook.com/groups/woocotx and request the monthly newsletter.
Wood County Metal Detecting Club meets on 1st Mondays at 6:30 p.m. at the community room. Exciting historical research and excavation is planned for the summer. The public is invited.
Board Games for Teens group meets every other Wednesday from 1-4 p.m. in the community room. Bring board games and snacks to share. This group is organized by Homeschoolers – Wood County, Texas and is designed for teens 13-19. Call 903-763-4191 to confirm game days.
Knitting and crochet instruction class meets each Thursday, 2-4 p.m. Students of all ages and skill levels may bring their own supplies and join this group. The instruction is free.

Library cards are available at no cost for those who provide photo identification and proof of residence in Wood County. A guardian must sign for children ages 5-17.
