QPL Summer Reading, “Tails and Tales,” is happening during June, and there will be an activity and cartoon show scheduled for each Wednesday from 2-3 p.m. in the library community room. The program is designed for children ages 4-12. It is not too late to pick up a reading card at the library’s front desk. Fill up the card and win a free ice cream cone courtesy of Sonic in Quitman, as well as a swim pass to the Quitman City Pool courtesy of Quitman-Lake Fork Kiwanis. Summer lunch snacks will be available for children daily, while they last, and is sponsored by the Quitman Rotary Club.

There are activities for adults throughout the summer, as well: photographers of all levels are invited to the “In-Focus Photography Club of East Texas” that meets every fourth Monday at the library at 5:30 p.m. Cancer Cysters and Breast Friends support group meets in the library’s community room on the last Tuesday of each month from 6-8 p.m. Call 903-850-3978 for more information. Knitting and crochet instruction class meets each Thursday 2-4 p.m. Students of all ages and skill levels may bring their own supplies and join the group for free instruction. The Wood County TX Genealogical Society meets each third Monday at 7 p.m. in the library community room. Contact David Gilbreath at 972-977-7988 for meeting confirmation and follow the society’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/groups/woocotx.
